My love of jewellery making began in childhood, turning packets of colourful beads into necklaces and bracelets through long summer afternoons. As I grew older the passion deepened, and I became fascinated by natural stones, asking relatives to bring gemstone beads back from their travels.
The first time I believed my work might be special was when my aunt, who only ever wore fine jewellery, saw a few of my pieces and asked me to make some for her. Still, life took me another way for a while. I trained as an electrical engineer and earned a master’s degree, and jewellery quietly moved into the background.
After moving to Australia, people kept stopping to ask where I bought my pieces. A chance conversation led me to a lapidary club, then to formal jewellery-making courses, and what had begun with plastic beads finally came full circle. Today I design and make each piece by hand.
